A backsplash is the fastest kitchen upgrade

Cabinets and countertops are expensive to replace. A backsplash is not, and it changes the look of the kitchen more than almost anything else for the money. Most installations take one to two days and you can cook in the kitchen the whole time.

We install backsplashes across Palm Beach County in every common style:

  • Subway tile in ceramic, porcelain or glass, stacked or offset
  • Glass and glass mosaic for a reflective, modern look
  • Stacked stone and stone mosaic for texture behind a range or bar
  • Talavera and hand-painted tile for color and a Spanish or Mexican feel
  • Large-format tile and slab-look porcelain for a seamless surface

What makes a backsplash look professional

The difference between a good backsplash and a great one is layout. Before any tile goes on, we plan where the pattern starts so it is centered on the range and hood, cuts at the corners are even, and outlet cutouts are tight. The joint where tile meets the counter is caulked rather than grouted so it does not crack when the counter moves.

Countertop cleaning and restoration

Marble and granite countertops take daily abuse. Marble etches from anything acidic, which leaves dull rings and spots in the polish. Granite collects oil around the cooktop and goes dark near the sink when the sealer wears off.

Countertop restoration usually takes a few hours and the counter is usable the same day. We do not fabricate or replace countertops; we make the stone you have look new.

Bathrooms too

The same work applies to bathroom vanities, tub decks and vanity backsplashes. If you are updating a bathroom, see our bathroom and shower tile page for the full room.

How the work happens

  1. Free estimate

We measure, discuss tile options and plan the layout so the pattern lands well at the hood, corners and outlets.

  2. Prep

Old backsplash removed if present, wall cleaned and prepped, counters and cabinets protected.

  3. Install

Tile is set with attention to the focal points, edges are finished with trim, and cuts are kept tight and even.

  4. Grout and seal

Grout is applied and the joint between tile and counter is caulked so it does not crack. Sealing is recommended behind the range and sink.

How much does backsplashes and counters cost in Palm Beach County?

Backsplashes are quoted after a free in-home measurement. Square footage is usually small, so the tile you choose and the number of cuts around outlets and windows drive the price more than area does. Countertop restoration is quoted by the countertop after we see the stone. The quote is the price.

Get your price

What moves the price

  • Tile material, since mosaic sheets and small tile take longer than subway tile
  • Number of outlets, windows and corners to cut around
  • Removing an old backsplash
  • For countertops, the stone type and how much etching or staining there is

Is backsplashes and counters the right fix for your floor?

A good fit when

  • Kitchens with a painted wall or dated backsplash behind the counters
  • Homeowners updating a kitchen without replacing cabinets or counters
  • Marble or granite countertops that have gone dull, etched or stained
  • Bathroom vanity backsplashes and tub decks

Probably not the right service when

  • Countertop replacement or fabrication. We restore stone counters; we do not cut new ones.
  • Laminate or solid-surface counters, which cannot be polished like stone
  • Backsplashes that depend on moving electrical. We work around existing outlets.

Backsplashes & Counters questions

How long does a backsplash installation take?

Most kitchen backsplashes take one to two days. Day one is installation, day two is grout and cleanup once the thinset has set.

Can you install a backsplash over an existing one?

We recommend removing the old tile first. Tiling over it adds thickness at outlets and edges and does not bond as well. Removal is usually quick.

What backsplash tile is easiest to keep clean?

Glass and glazed porcelain or ceramic wipe clean and do not stain. Natural stone looks great but is porous and should be sealed, especially behind the range.

Can dull or etched marble countertops be restored?

Yes. Etching from lemon, wine and cleaners is a dull spot in the polish. We hone the surface to remove it, repolish and seal. Granite usually only needs deep cleaning, polishing and sealing.

Do you install Talavera and hand-painted tile?

Yes. Mexican Talavera and hand-painted tile backsplashes are a specialty, including planning the pattern so the painted tiles land where you want them.
